Super Bowl Sunday is one of the biggest pizza days of the year, and Domino’s wants to make every pie feel special this weekend.
In a promotion that sounds almost too good to be true, Domino’s will be awarding rewards points for any and every type of pizza customers log through their new Points for Pies program. And when they say any type of pizza, they really mean it.
Starting Saturday February 2, a day before the big game, pizza lovers can sign up for the Domino’s Piece of the Pie loyalty program (if they haven’t already), scan a pizza using the Domino’s app, and receive 10 points for their effort. These pizzas can include Domino’s pizzas, Pizza Hut pizzas, frozen pizzas, homemade pizzas, pizza bagels, pizzas from fancy restaurants, pizzas from across the world and even toys shaped like pizzas—if it looks like pizza, it counts.
“Instead of advertising during Sunday’s game, we decided to invest in a breakthrough program that rewards everyone who loves pizza as much as we do,” Art D’Elia, Domino’s senior vice president and chief brand officer, said in a press release. “We know everyone is asking themselves, ‘Did Domino’s just say they will award points for eating ANY pizza? Even from a competitor?’ You read that right; oh yes we did!”
So how does it work? The Domino’s app has been embedded with artificial intelligence technology that recognizes whole and slices of pizzas, and points will be awarded accordingly. Once customers reach 60 points, they can trade them in for a free medium two-topping pizza from Domino’s. The Points for Pies promo will be running for 12 weeks, and points can be combined with traditional points earned through the Piece of the Pie loyalty program that runs all the time.
A couple things should be noted, however, before you get too excited: Customers must have the latest version of the Domino’s app, only 10 points can be earned per week, only 60 points can be earned in the 12-week span of the promotion and point availability may run out throughout the day.
If you’re too late to grab points one day, try again the next—at least 100 million points will be awarded in total, so keep checking back. It’s free pizza people, don’t give up!
